Lower School Dance

Year 7, 8, 9, 10 Entry

  • For ballet wear something fitted in which you can demonstrate the classical lines.

    You may wish to change for modern which is absolutely fine, again wear something fitted in which you are able to show the lines of movement.

  • Once you have submitted your application from you will be sent a date along with the schedule for the day.

  • Parents will be able to tour the whole site after the Principal’s talk. Candidates will see several studios during the audition day.

  • We aim to get back to you within 10 days.

  • The Hammond is in receipt of government funding through the Music and Dance Scheme (MDS). Further information about this can be found on the following website:

  • We prefer sheet music and if bringing this please ensure any cuts are clearly marked and your music is taped together.

    If you are bringing music on a backing track, please ensure it is already downloaded onto your device and cued ready to play. An aux lead will be available.

  • Absolutely. We encourage you to perform something that showcases your performance skills.

  • No. If you love tap and are a strong tapper we would love to see this.

Diploma Courses

Dance & Musical Theatre

  • Once you have submitted your application from you will be sent a date along with the schedule for the day.

  • Parents will be able to tour the whole site after the Principal’s talk. Candidates will see several studios during the audition day.

  • We aim to get back to you within 10 days.

  • Once you have accepted your place our welfare officer will be in touch regarding Experience days and details on accommodation.

Audition for Musical Theatre Diploma

  • We prefer sheet music and if bringing this please ensure any cuts are clearly marked and your music is taped together. If you are bringing music on a backing track, please ensure it is already downloaded onto your device and cued ready to play. An aux lead will be available.

  • 2 contrasting songs that best show your vocal range and dynamic.

    Your monologue should be age appropriate.

  • You will learn a short section of repertoire from a Musical Theatre show.

Audition for Dance Diploma

  • Absolutely, make sure you are doing something that demonstrates your performance skills.

  • No. For example, if you love tap and are a strong tapper we would love to see this.

  • You will be led through various tasks working in groups.
