Female Trailblazers – An extraordinary history.
Pioneering women who defied convention and courageously battled the odds to be the first to fly solo across the Atlantic, or cross the Sahara Desert by car or circumnavigate the globe in a yacht or travel to the North and South Poles. In short, to bicycle, walk, run, sail, climb, swim the fastest and the furthest.
Their stories are as intriguing as they are inspirational starting with Nellie Bly, who beat the fictitious Phileas Fogg by going around the world in not 80 but 72 days and becoming the first person ever to do so.
This is a devised production created and performed by the company of final year Hammond BA (Musical Theatre Performance) students, and led by director Emma Lucia.
Daring Dames combines drama, dance, visual art and music to celebrate women who smashed records and glass ceilings wherever they went.
