Model United Nations, Alfriink College05/03/20
Recently, a number of Hammond students have been taking part in a Model United Nations conference at Alfrink College in the Netherlands.
The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Worlds apart, one world together’, and is aimed at celebrating our differences whilst respecting each other’s outlook on the world.
Students will sit on committees, debating important issues the world faces, just as the United Nations would.
On top of the incredible work students have being doing themselves, they’ve also visiting The Hague, where they visited the prison museum, toured the Dutch Houses of Parliament and shown where the Dutch Prime Minister works.
They then listened to a talk from Judith Ndukwu, a Nigerian political refugee who arrived in the Netherlands in 2014 as part of the Shelter City programme. She now fights for LGBTQI+ rights in Nigeria and across the world.
As always, Hammond students are a credit to the school and themselves, and we couldn’t be prouder of their work, diligence and enthusiasm for understanding the world around them.
