Hammond students are celebrating their recent success in The Chester Festival of Speech and Drama.

The Chester Festival of Speech and Drama is held each year at the King's School, and has been running for over 80 years. It is a huge event with over 500 competitors and has many different disciplines across 6 rooms being judged throughout the day, for ages 6+.

Hammond School students entered 6 categories and won 4 of those.

The results were:

Josh Boyd ( 15, from Ellesmere Port ) won Year 9 & 10 acting

Verity Marlow (15, from Dorset) won year 9 & 10 Shakespeare

Lucy McCarthy ( 16, from Mold ) won year 11+ Shakespeare

Ffion Denmitz ( 15, from Chester ) and Ailee Madden ( 14, from Wirral   )won group acting

Aimee Hughes ( 14, from Nottinghamshire ) Came 3rd in Acting

Joanna Bentley ( 16, from Helsby ) came 2nd in Shakespeare.

Students can study Drama at The Hammond from the age of 11, whilst opportunities to continue Acting studies, together with 2 A Levels, are available for Post-16 students.
