After the recent purchase of a new boarding house in the summer of 2017, renamed Betty Hassall House, the Hammond now has three boarding houses for girls and boys between the ages of 11 to 16 years old, alongside some senior students .
The boarding houses are located close to one another, and Chester City Centre is within easy walking distance. The main school campus is located approximately two miles from the boarding houses. and boarders are brought to and from school every day by bus. Boarders enjoy living away from the main school site, as it gives them a feeling of “going home” at the end of the day. Our borders are encouraged to personalise their living space with pictures and favourite items, helping them to create a warm, homely environment.
The boarding houses have communal spaces where boarders can relax together and mix with other year groups, which creates a real family atmosphere.
Located at 12, Liverpool Road, Hampton Lodge is the largest of our three boarding houses and was part of the early foundation of the school. This iconic three story Victorian house is home to our Year 9 to 11 girls. Dormitories vary in size; the smallest sleeps two and the largest sleeping six. Hampton Lodge houses one of the original Hammond Dance studio, which can be used by boarders from all three houses.
Clovelly House is an Edwardian three storey house in Eversley Park. Its ground floor comprises two and four bedded rooms, and is home to our Year 7 to 11 boys. Years 7 and 8 girls are housed on the top two floors in either two, four or six bedded dormitories.
