At The Hammond, students are encouraged to see academic studies as preparation of all aspects of adult life, including a career in the Performing Arts. We want students to make the most of their talents and we actively support them to reach their goals. Not only do they achieve excellent academic success, students also learn to confidently take their place in the wider world.
Students over the age of 16 years are enrolled at The Hammond on either a three-year vocational Level 6 Diploma in Professional Dance or Professional Musical Theatre, or a two-year BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts Course, alongside two A-Level subjects.
We believe it is vital that all students continue to develop a wide range of skills which will support them as they begin to focus on future careers. Experience has shown that achieving additional qualifications will stand our students in very good stead, as they approach the world outside the education system.
The Hammond offers a well-resourced library, excellent computer and internet access, and a wide range of audio-visual materials. Tutors regularly make themselves available for academic support. Students and parents receive verbal and written progress reports and there are well-defined opportunities for students to seek pastoral advice. Parents and guardians are invited to a Parents’ Evening and are welcome to contact the school at any time to discuss their child’s progress.
We offer a range of A-Level courses with others available according to demand. We pride ourselves on offering small classes, which encourage focussed learning in a supportive environment.
