Outreach
Changes at The Hammond
Over the past two years, The Hammond has expanded its premises to include three new developments in dance, drama and music and this has brought many new and exciting challenges to the school.
The Hammond has attracted an ever increasing number of full time pupils and students. The additional space and facilities therein provide the opportunity to expand the current amenities for both the lower school pupils and professional students
As a consequence of the new expansion, a decision has been reached by the School to discontinue the H.S.A. department with effect from July 2010. Members of the current H.S.A. staff are currently setting up a dance school with the approval of The Hammond, more information can be found by calling Lynne Greatorex on 07896 412176
In addition to the vocational training it offers, The Hammond School is already acknowledged for its commitment to the community. The School's varied outreach projects include:
Hammond Dance Associates - Specialist classes for talented children, selected by audition, 9-16 years. These classes are held on Sundays.
The Hammond's Easter and Summer schools, working with participants drawn from the community
A range of outreach dance initiatives, delivered by the Schools' Community Dance Co-Ordinator, such as work with Save The Family
Outreach drama workshops taken to local LEA schools
Dance workshops including Boys' Breakdance
Plus a range of other activities including the School's partnerships with local LEA schools.
