GCSE Success!

 

 

The Hammond is delighted to report a very good year for GCSE results. Overall, 89% of our students achieved 5 or more passes at grade A* - C and we congratulate them on their success. Some individual students achieved outstanding results; Jordan Li-Smith gained 5 A* and 4 A grades, Nicole Finneran gained 1 A* and 7 A grades and Jack Thomson gained 7 A grades, each of them achieving 10 GCSEs in total. These students achieved these impressive results in addition to an intensive programme of Dance training - Well done to them!

 Many of the students will be staying with us to join one of our post-16 courses in Dance, Musical Theatre or Drama but we wish all of our Year 11 students, whatever they are doing next, a happy and successful future career.

30 November 2011 - Outreach Taster Day for Professional Courses Upon completion of the day selected candidates will be invited to attend a formal audition on one of the above dates.

Additional Audition Dates for 2012 Entry:

Monday 20th February - additional Professional Students' Dance audition

Wednesday 29th February - additional lower school audition

Saturday 3rd March 2012 - HPAA audition begins at 2.00pm. BOYS ONLY. Aged 9 - 15 years.

Dance and Drama Awards Funding News – January 2012

The Department for Education has been working with colleagues in the Department for Business Innovation and Skills (BIS), Young People’s Learning Agency (YPLA) and Skills Funding Agency (the Agency) to consider a long term solution to providing support for the most talented young people and adults to access specialist dance and drama provision in the UK.

 

In December 2011, the departments concerned reported that they need further time to consider the options, and that they have therefore decided to postpone the implementation of the new arrangements to commence in September 2013 rather than September 2012 as was anticipated. 

 

The DaDA scheme will therefore be supported for a further, final transitional year in, 2012/13.  This means that students showing exceptional talent during the autumn 2011 audition period and who start courses in September 2012 will continue to be offered awards under the DaDA scheme, and will be funded to the end of their courses.   

 

This will be the final transitional year, before a long term solution is implemented.
