Performing Arts Centre Appeal

This is a very exciting time for The Hammond School - we are building a Performing Arts Centre which will include a flexible performance space/double studio with retractable tiered seating for 300, further studios, Drama and Outreach studio, foyer plus dining area.

This will not only be an invaluable addition to the school, it will also be a major resource for the community.

We are delighted that grant funding toward the cost of building this prestigious new Performing Arts Centre onsite at the School's location at Hoole Bank has been given to the School by the Department for Education and Skills (DfES).

The Department, which currently provides bursary funding to The Hammond School for talented pupils, regardless of background, through the Music and Dance Scheme, has pledged £1.25 million toward the new building, which should be completed by late 2007.

During the Summer holiday, we were proud to welcome Loyd Grossman to The Hammond School to officially 'cut the first turf' prior to the building of the new Performing Arts Centre. Loyd Grossman is Chair of the board of Culture Northwest (The Cultural Consortium for the North West of England), Deputy Chair of the Liverpool Culture Company, a trustee of St Deiniol's Library, and a trustee and Chairman of National Museums Liverpool.

The School needs to continue in its fundraising in order fully to equip the new Performing Arts Centre, and have launched a 'Sponsor a Seat' campaign where anyone can arrange to have their name, the name of a loved one or that of a company or club permanently placed on a seat in the new auditorium - for just £250.
