Welcome to The Hammond - an exciting and unique school. With the emphasis on performance of many kinds, The Hammond provides a wide-ranging general education from the age of 5 right through to 19+. Our Preparatory School offers a warm and nurturing beginning to the journey through the education system. Our Lower School (yrs 7-11) provides not only a secondary school GCSE experience, alongside high quality music and drama opportunities, but is also a nationally recognised centre of excellence for Dance. Post 16 - The Hammond is supported through the DaDA scheme to deliver Trinity College's National Diplomas in Performing Arts (Dance) and Musical Theatre, in addition to a 6th Form Drama Course offering a BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Performing Arts (Acting) - all alongside A levels. Recognised and funded as a centre of excellence by the DfE under the Music and Dance Scheme (MDS) and supported also by the EFA's Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA) scheme, we offer full time educational courses from the age of 11 in Dance, Drama and Music alongside GCSE and GCE level academic provision in a broad range of subjects. Our Dance course includes training in classical ballet, tap, jazz, modern, street and contemporary dance. Post-16 we offer the National Diplomas in Performing Arts (Dance) and (Musical Theatre), validated by Trinity College, London. The Sixth Form Drama Course combines a BTEC Level 3 in Performing Arts (Acting) with the study of 2 A Levels. Our new preparatory school is located in Garden House within the school's grounds at Hoole Bank and offers a separate and secure Key Stage 1-2 education to pupils who can also take advantage of the extensive facilities in the Hammond. Located just outside the city of Chester, Cheshire, only two hours north of London by rail, our facilities are second to none. We have our own 400 seat theatre, 8 Dance studios and 2 dedicated Drama studios, Music and Music Technology rooms, AppleMac Computer Suite plus state of the art recording studio.
